16:
Will the Fast-Fill Rechargeable Pump inflate my air bed?
1: Can I use an
airbed on my existing bedspring?
A: Airbeds may be placed on any serviceable bedspring or solid foundation.
Old or damaged bedsprings can diminish the performance and comfort of the
airbed and may even cause damage to the beds. INTEX airbeds perform best on
solid foundations.
2: Can I use
normal sheets for my INTEX airbed?
A: Yes, normal sheets will work perfectly on your airbed. It is best if you
make sure that the pocket on your sheets are the correct depth of the
airbed.
3: Can
I use other brand's pump for inflating the airbeds?
A: Yes, you can use another brand's pump but we recommend using an INTEX
pump. They are designed specifically for INTEX airbeds. Other pumps may
reduce the performance or even cause damage to the airbeds.
4: Can I wash my airbed?
A: With mild soap water. Thoroughly rinse and air dry. Do not use the airbed
on the water; water saturation may be harmful to some materials used in the
making of the airbed. And washing by a washing machine is far more dangerous
which will cause unexpected damage.
5: Does the Intex
airbed come with a warranty?
A: Yes, Intex offers service and assistance for manufacturing defects within
the first 90 days from the date of original purchase. A copy of the
validated sales receipt must be provided upon request. The service includes,
troubleshooting, technical advice, replacement of inflation and deflation
valve caps and plugs, offer repair patch or repair kit to fix small leakage,
and replacement of other components depending on the airbed model. Contact
Intex for warranty information at 800-234-6839.
6: How are the airbeds
constructed?
A: There are five types of construction used on Intex Airbeds. I-Beam
construction is characterized by parallel vinyl beams oriented vertically or
horizontally. Coil Beam construction is differentiated by open loops of
vinyl, each attached by a weld (typically circular) at the top and bottom of
the bed. Wave Beam is a converted I-Beam construction consisting of equally
distanced air channels creating a wave like surface. Comfort-Top
Construction is Two Layers. It has an I-Beam base and a top layer of
circular imprints attached by a weld to a solid sheet of vinyl providing
flexibility. Air-flow construction has diamond shaped pockets that allow air
to flow smoothly from one pocket to another.
7: How can I
differentiate the valves?
A: A Built-in Pump is a pump that is mounted inside of the airbed with the
panel portion showing. A 3-in-1 Valve has two "clips" on either side of the
Valve Cap that allows for easy removal. A 2-in-1 Valve does not have "clips"
and instead consists simply of a screw-on cap, and a plug that fits on top,
and in the center, of the cap itself. The Exhaust Valve Cap and Plug
consists of a rubber stopper plug that is inserted first, while the screw-on
cap is placed on top of the plug. The Double-Valve is a vinyl valve stem
that is attached to the mattress and is reminiscent of a beach ball valve.
8: I misplaced the transformer to my Fast-Fill Pump. Which transformer do I
purchase to replace it?
A: If your pump states 12volt DC, 6.5A you need to purchase: Input: 120volt,
60Hz. Output: 12volt DC, 150mA, Class 2 transformer. 230volt, 50Hz. Output:
12volt DC, 150mA, Class 2 transformer.
9: If my airbed
has a leak, how can I find it?
A: First, make sure the plug and cap are secure, replace it if necessary.
You can also put liquid soap in a squirt bottle and spray on seams. If there
is a leak it will bubble. (Laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent will
not work; they do not have the "bubbling" effect)
10: Since my airbed has flocking, how can I use the repair patch - it
won't adhere to the flocking?
A: The repair patch is designed for vinyl surfaces only. However, with a
fine sandpaper, such as an emery board, can be used to gently rub away the
flocking. When that is complete, the repair patch will hold.
11: What is the approximate weight capacity of Intex airbeds?
A: Twin size = 300 lbs / 136 kg; Double, Queen = 600 lbs / 272 kg.
12: What pump should
I use with my airbed?
A: All Intex Double Quick Hand Pumps, Bellows Foot Pumps and Quick-Fill
Electric Pumps work on all Intex products. NOTE: Do not over inflate the
airbeds.
13: What type of
valve does my airbed have?
A: The airbeds have a Built-In Pump, a 3-in-1 Valve, a 2-in-1 Valve, an
Exhaust Valve Cap and Plug, or a Double Valve.
14: Why doesn't the product measure out to the size stated on the box?
A: INTEX airbeds state the approximate inflated size; Make sure the airbed
is inflated before it is measured. Make sure to incorporate the bulge on
whichever side you are measuring. All sizes are approximate which will
effect by the pressure, temperature and etc. It's normal when you get a
measure error of ±2".
15: Why won't my Fast-Fill Rechargeable Pump work? I turn it on and nothing
happens.
A: Approximately 10 hours are required to fully charge the batteries. This
applies to the first time charge and all subsequent recharges.
16:
Will the Fast-Fill Rechargeable Pump inflate my airbed?
A: Only if your airbed was designed for use with this pump.
Auto Pool Cleaner
1: Does the
auto cleaner have an electrical motor?
2: Should the auto cleaner hose be connected to the inlet (water from pool
to pump) or the outlet (water from pump to pool) connection?
3: What is the easiest way to take out the auto cleaner from the water after
each use?
4: What is the recommended filter pump size (flow rate) for the auto cleaner
to operate properly?
5: What should I do if the auto cleaner does not move or moves very slowly?
6: What should I do if the auto cleaner lifts off from the pool's floor?
7: Why does the auto cleaner have some tiny holes on the upper housing?
1: Does the
auto cleaner have an electrical motor?
A: No. The auto cleaner is not an electrical device. It relies on water flow
to operate.
2: Should the auto cleaner hose be connected to the inlet (water from pool
to pump) or the outlet (water from pump to pool) connection?
A: The auto cleaner suction is based on the venturi effect. (See Owners
Manual). One end of the hose should be connected to the auto pool cleaner
and the other end to the pool's outlet where water from the pump returns
back into the pool.
3: What is the easiest way to take out the auto cleaner from the water after
each use?
A: 1) Make sure the pump is off and the power cord unplugged from the
electrical outlet. 2) Lift the auto cleaner just below the water surface
level by pulling the hose up slowly. 3) Grasp the hose with one hand and
lift the auto cleaner out of the water slowly at an angle to drain out all
the water of the body. 4) After all the water is drained out; hold the auto
cleaner base with both hands to remove from the pool. Do not grasp the
bumpers.
4: What is the recommended filter pump size (flow rate) for the auto cleaner
to operate properly?
A: The auto cleaner requires a filter pump with a flow rate between 2,000 to
5,000 gal/hr (7,570 -18,925 L/hr) to operate properly.
5: What should I do if the auto cleaner does not move or moves very slowly?
A: If the pool floor is not even or smooth, it will hinder the free movement
of the auto cleaner. Pull the auto cleaner's hose gently to release the auto
cleaner from the floor wrinkles and uneven areas. Also make sure the pump is
on and running, the plunger valves are opened, and the filter cartridge and
auto cleaner's debris net are clean. If this is a chronic problem the pool
will have to be drained and the floor wrinkles smoothed out.
6: What should I do if the auto cleaner lifts off from the pool's floor?
A: Make sure all the air is removed from inside the auto cleaner. Follow the
owner's manual on how to release the air.
7: Why does the auto cleaner have some tiny holes on the upper housing?
A: The tiny holes are vent holes for trapped air in the chamber to escape.
Do not block or obstruct the vent holes. All air must be removed from the
auto cleaner system for it to perform properly.
Chemical Water Balance
1: How do you
lose chlorine content in the pool?
2: How do you remove algae?
3: What are the
black stains on vinyl lined pools?
4: What can algae do to the
pool?
5: What causes the chlorine
odor?
6: What happens if the pH level or the alkalinity levels are too high or too
low?
7: What is algae?
8: What is stabilizer?
9: What is the different between using Chlorine and Bromine in pool as a
sanitizer?
10: What test kits
and chemicals should I use?
1: How do you
lose chlorine content in the pool?
A: Bright sunlight is the biggest contributing factor in causing the loss of
free chlorine from open air pools, mainly due to the presence of ultra
violet light.
2: How do you remove algae?
A: Algae will die from chlorine with concentrations as low as 0.05ppm.
3: What are
the black stains on vinyl lined pools?
A: Black stains on a vinyl lined pool may indicate excessive amount of algae
or other normal water minerals, plus excessive amounts of suntan oils may be
in the pool water.
4: What can algae do to the
pool?
A: They make the water unsuitable for use.
5: What causes the chlorine
odor?
A: Not enough free chlorine. Surprisingly, the problem here is not excessive
amounts of chlorine, like many would assume. Chloramines form by the bonding
of chlorine with amines from sweat and other sources. These chloramines can
create a chlorine odor and can also cause eye and skin irritation.
6: What happens if the pH level or the alkalinity levels are too high or too
low?
A: Skin and eye irritations will occur.
7: What is algae?
A: There are some 24,000 known types of algae and they all are single celled
organisms, capable of photosynthesis, mitosis and meiosis. That is, they
produce their own food. All cells can divide and reproduce by combining with
other algae cells.
8: What is stabilizer?
A: A Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid) extends the life of free chlorine in outdoor
swimming pools by protecting chlorine from the degrading effects of the
sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays.
9: What is the different between using Chlorine and Bromine in pool as a
sanitizer?
A: Chlorine is the most commonly used sanitizer in swimming pools. As it is
less expensive than bromines. Bromines can be used in pools but it is better
suited for hot spas, as it can withstand heat longer than chlorine. Thereby
being a better sanitizer for spas.
10: What test
kits and chemicals should I use?
A: We always refer consumers to their local pool supplies store for any
information regarding chemical use. They would know about your water
hardness and the available products to suit your needs. There are a variety
of test kits available for home or commercial use. INTEX supplies 3 in 1
test strips which can provide three tests - for free available chlorine,
total alkalinity and pH.

A: When filled to 80% water capacity, as recommended, the pool holds
approximately: 8' x 30" = 639 gal (2,420 L) 10' x 30" = 1,018 gal (3,854 L)
12' x 30" = 1,485 gal (5,619 L) 12' x 36" = 1,779 gal (6,732 L) 15' x 30" =
2,124 gal (8,041 L) 15' x 36" = 2,822 gal (10,680 L) 15' x 42" = 3,284 gal
(12,431 L) 15' x 48" = 3,736 gal (14,142 L) 16' x 42" = 3,754 gal (14,207 L)
16' x 48" = 4,273 gal (16,174 L) 18' x 42" = 4,786 gal (18,115 L) 18' x 48"
= 5,455 gal (20,647 L) 18' x 52" = 5,894 gal (22,309 L)
2: Can I set the
pool up on a concrete patio?
A: Yes, as long as the pool location allows you to secure all doors and
windows. A ground cloth under the pool is highly recommended. Do not drag
the liner across the concrete, as abrasions will cause holes. The surface
must be flat, level and stable.
3:
Can a portable water heater be used for this type of pool?
A: On Pools 12' in diameter and smaller Intex's pool heater (item number
56683E) can be used. On Pools 15' in diameter and smaller Intex's pool
heater (item number 56684) can be used.
4: Can grass grow through the ground cloth and / or pool liner?
A: Yes, in some cases certain types of hardy grass such as Bermuda or St.
Augustine can grow through the liner. Before setting up your pool, it is
recommended that you clear the area of these types of hardy grasses. Intex
will not be held responsible for grasses that may grow through the ground
cloth and / or pool liner, as this is not a manufacturing defect. A ground
cloth or tarp may be helpful in preventing this from occurring.
5: Can the
pool and pump be purchased separately?
A: Yes, Please contact us or purchase directly from our website.
6: Can the pool be left
up year-round?
A: It depends on where you live. It is not recommended to keep your pool up
if your temperature falls lower than 5 degrees Celsius or 40 degrees
Fahrenheit. The pool may freeze and crack the vinyl walls.
7: Do I need to keep safety and rescue equipment on hand near my pool?
A: You should always keep rescue equipment by the pool and clearly post
emergency numbers by the phone closest to the pool. Recommended items are
(but not limited to) a Coast Guard approved ring buoy with attached rope, a
standard first aid kit, a strong rigid pole not less than 12' (365.76 cm)
and emergency procedure information.
8: Do you
recommend using chemicals? If so, what kind?
A: Yes. Contact your local pool supply store and provide the estimated
number of gallons of water in your pool. Also the Intex Saltwater Pool
System (Chlorine Generator) will keep your pool clean from algae and
bacteria.
9: Does my Intex
pool carry a factory warranty?
A: Intex will replace manufacturing defective product within 90 days of
purchase (Except filter pumps). The product must be returned to Intex along
with a copy of the dated sales receipt, your name, address, telephone number
and a brief note explaining reason for return. It is suggested you ship the
product to Intex using a traceable shipping method. Intex will not be
responsible for product lost in transit. The filter pumps have a one (1)
year limited written warranty located in the filter pump manual. The
responsibility of the shipping cost to Intex is that of the consumer. Please
contact Intex customer service at 1 (800)-234-6839 with any questions.
10: Does the ladder, ground cloth and / or cover comes with the pool?
A: It depends on the package purchased. Be sure to read the description
prior to purchasing.
11: Does the liner require any special care to ensure durability?
A: Keep sharp objects out of the pool or from underneath the pool. Clean the
inflatable ring after each use with a damp cloth, and cover the pool when
the pool is not in use with a pool cover. Maintain proper pH levels and keep
the pool sanitary and clean.
12: How do I drain the pool?
A: 1. Remove the cap from the drain valve on the outside of the pool wall.
2. Attach the female end of the hose to the hose adapter. 3. Place the end
of the hose in an area where the water can be safely drained. 4. Screw the
hose adapter to the drain valve. Note: water will start to drain
immediately. 5. Disconnect hose adapter when finished. 6. Replace drain plug
on the inside of pool for storage. 7. Replace drain cap on outside of pool.
8. Be sure pool liner is completely clean and dry before long-term storage.
13: How do I prevent dirt and grime from getting into the pool water?
A: Remind your family and friends to always hose or rinse off any dirt or
tanning oil from their hands, feet and body prior to entering the pool. Use
the Intex pool cover to keep your pool covered all the time when not in use.
This will help keep the wind and the other elements from depositing dirt and
debris in your pool.
14: How do I prevent the pool from damaging grass, lawn or prevent fungi
from developing on concrete?
A: It is not possible to prevent grass or lawn damage under the pool. Keep
this in mind when selecting your site for set up. Fungus may develop in
shaded areas around the pool. Try to keep these shaded areas free from
excess water.
15: How does UV
affect the materials used?
A: All PVC's degrade over prolonged exposure to excessive sunlight. Intex
pools are manufactured with UV inhibitors to delay the degradation caused by
sunlight.
16: How high can I fill the
pool?
A: To the line near the bottom of the inflated ring. Do Not Overfill above
the line as this may cause the pool walls to become unstable and possibly
result in injury or property damage from the water flowing over the pool
wall while in use.
17: How
long does it take to fill the pool with water?
A: Two or more hours, depending on pool size, hose size and water pressure.
Remember to observe the fill up process for several minutes to make sure
that the pool is filling evenly and the water surface is level inside the
pool.
18: How many seasons
should the pool last?
A: It normally depends on usage, maintenance and care. Careful maintenance
and proper storage of your pool in the off-season will extend its life
several seasons.
19: How
much air should be used to inflate the top ring?
A: Do not over inflate or use high-pressure air compressors. Inflate top
ring to be slightly stiff to the touch. An over-inflated ring heated by the
sun may burst or lead to leaks in the seam. Pay attention to air temperature
variation! In cold ambient temperature the top ring will lose some pressure,
air will contract. If this occurs, DO NOT add air since the air inside will
expand again once the temperature rises. In hot weather, the air will
expand. You MUST let some air out to prevent the top ring from failing due
to excess internal pressure.
20: How much does
water cost to fill the pool?
A: It varies across the world. Contact your local water company for cost
information.
21: How often should
the water be changed?
A: Depending on usage and chemical balance this figure can vary. If properly
filtered and chemically balanced, the pool water should last through a
summer season. You can reduce the need for water changes by keeping your
pool covered when not in use, testing the water regularly to ensure proper
chemical balance, operating the pump for an adequate number of hours each
day, keeping the filter pump cartridge clean and replacing the cartridge
when needed.
22: How to prevent black stains around the water level on the top ring?
A: Black stains around the top ring are normally caused by suntan or
sunblock lotion that float on the water surface and accumulate on the side.
Clean the inflatable ring after each use with a damp cloth, and cover the
pool when the pool is not in use with a pool cover. For a better hygiene,
always use an Intex Wall Mount Surface Skimmer to clean the water surface on
a daily basis, and change the pool water once or twice per summer season.
23: Is a
DVD available to show how to set up the pool?
A: A DVD is included in all pool packages. If you would like to purchase one
you can call the Intex service station listed on your Owner's Manual.
24: Is a fence or
enclosure required by law?
A: Some cities and towns require owners of certain types of pools, based on
size and depth to fence the area where the pool is located. Check your local
ordinance.
25: Is it safe
for my pets to play in the pool?
A: No. Dogs, cats and all other household pets should be kept away from the
pool to avoid being trapped inside, and also to protect the structural
integrity of the pool. (There is a risk of the sidewalls and inflatable ring
becoming punctured by pet claws and teeth).
26: Is it safe to jump or dive into the pool off of a ladder or any type of
platform?
A: No. Under no circumstances should anyone jump or dive into the pool.
Intex does not distribute any pools that are deep enough to allow such
activity. Serious injury or death could result from failure to follow these
rules.
27: Is it safe to lean over, lie down, or sit on top of the pool's
inflatable top ring?
A: No. Do not allow any pool occupants (even small children) to lean over,
lie down, or sit on the inflatable top ring. This will cause instability in
the pool wall and cause the water to flood over the side of the pool.
28: Is
there a repair patch enclosed for liner repair?
A: Yes. Small tears or holes can be repaired with the enclosed repair kit.
The surface should be clean and dry before affixing the patch.
29: Should I leave my pool outside in snow or freezing winter?
A: No, Above-ground pool may collapse under the weight of ice and snow and
the PVC walls will be damaged.
30: What AGP sizes are
available?
A: We distribute 8' x 30" 10' x 30" 12' x 30", 12' x 36" 15' x 30", 15' x
36", 15' x 42", 15' x 48" 16' x 42", 16' x 48" 18' x 42", 18' x 48", 18' x
52"
31: What
could cause the Easy Set pool to be lopsided?
A: The base or bottom of the pool is not laid out properly (flat without
wrinkles). The pool liner must extend evenly around the outside of the
inflatable ring when filling the pool with water. If this is the case, and
the pool is still lopsided, then the ground is not 100% level.
32: What is
needed to prepare a site for the pool?
A: A flat, solid, level stable surface is needed and all sharp objects must
be removed. A ground cloth or tarp should be placed under the pool prior to
setting it up.
33: What is the
approximate depth of the water?
A: When filled to 80% water capacity, as recommended, the pool water depth
is approximately: 8' x 30" = 23" (58cm) 10' x 30" = 23" (58cm) 12' x 30" =
23" (58cm) 12' x 36" = 28" (71cm) 15' x 30" = 23" (58cm) 15' x 36" = 28"
(71cm) 15' x 42" = 35" (89cm) 15' x 48" = 41" (104cm) 16' x 42" = 35" (89cm)
16' x 48" = 40" (102cm) 18' x 42" = 35" (89cm) 18' x 48" = 41" (104cm) 18' x
52" = 45" (114cm)
34: What is the steepest slope that I am able to set up my pool on?
A: The surface must be perfectly flat, solid and level. Pay close attention
to the pool's stability and levelness in the early stages of filling your
pool up with water. If after about an inch of water is accumulated, and the
water is not spreading out evenly, or the pool appears to be bulging to one
side, stop filling the pool, drain the water, and select a new level site.
If the pool is set up on a slope, the pool will be lopsided and can collapse
causing personal injury or property damage.
35: What material is the
pool made of?
A: Laminated PVC which is made with 3 separate layers of material for extra
strength and durability - two outer layers of heavy gauge PVC laminated to
an inner layer of polyester mesh for extra reinforcement.
36: What might be the problem when the top ring deflates one day after it
has been inflated?
A: When a top ring is inflated during a hot and sunny day, the air inside
will contract (less pressure) when the ambient temperature drops during the
evening or early morning, thus giving a false impression the top ring keeps
deflating. Do not over-inflate the top ring, and make sure the air valve is
firmly secure and inserted.
37: What other surfaces can be safely used to set up my Intex Easy Set Pool?
A: The Easy Set Pool can be set up on grass, compacted dirt, or pavement
that is completely flat, level and stable. A ground cloth or tarp is
recommended for under the pool. The pool should NOT be set up on sand or
muddy ground that could possibly shift. It is NOT recommended to be set up
on wooden decks, balconies or elevated platforms.
38: What
should I do to avoid puncturing the top ring?
A: Keep pets away from the pool. Sharp objects and jewelry like metal
wristwatch, bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, hairpins should be taken
off before entering the pool. The small sharp objects can puncture the PVC
ring, or can be sucked into the filter pump causing permanent damage.
39: What should I use to clean my pool before storing it for the winter?
A: Mild soap and water. Thoroughly rinse and make sure it is completely dry
before storing.
40: Why do I find algae in my pool even when I run my filter pump regularly?
A: The pump and filter alone will not prevent algae from growing in pool
water; this can only been done by maintaining proper chlorine and pH levels

A: Yes, for hygienic purposes we recommend a filter pump be used with all
Intex 8' or larger above ground pools.
14: Does
the pump keep the pool walls and bottom clean?
A: No. With proper chemicals and filter cartridge replacement, the pump will
keep the pool clean from suspended water particles. A pool vacuum should be
used to clean the bottom of the pool. You can order the Intex pool vacuum to
clean your pool however it will not pick up fine dust or sand that sinks to
the bottom. Additionally the Intex Krystal Clear(TM) Saltwater Pool System
and maintenance kits will keep your pool clean from algae and bacteria.
Depending on the local characteristics of your water condition, it may be
desirable to add water softeners, clarifiers, or algaecides.

The hose clamps may also be loose.
29: What does the warranty
cover?
A: All manufacturing defects in material and workmanship for a period of one
year from the original date of purchase.
30: What is a GFCI outlet?
A: GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) is a device that protects people
from serious injury due to electric shock. GFCI's constantly monitor
electricity flowing in the circuitry. If the electricity flowing into the
circuit differs by even a slight amount from that returning, the GFCI will
quickly shut off the current flowing through that circuit. The advantage of
using a GFCI is that they can detect even small variations in the amount of
current flowing through an electrical product, even amounts too small to
activate a fuse or circuit breaker. GFCI's work quickly, so they can help
protect consumers from severe electric shocks and electrocution while most
common circuit breakers take far too long to open the circuit stopping the
flow of electricity.
31:
What is the GPH (gallon per hour) capacity of the pump?
A: Model M1 and M2 (no need hose) approximately 300 gal/hr (1,135 L/hr).

leaks and replace if needed. Also make sure you've cleaned or replaced
filter cartridges as recommended in the Owners Manual.
38: What should I do if I'm experiencing some difficulty connecting the
hoses onto the black protruding hose connectors?
A: Due to variations in ambient temperature, PVC parts may become stiffer or
softer. To facilitate the connection of the hoses to the black protruding
hose connectors on the pool wall, you may use soapy water solution (mix 6
drops of dish detergent in 1/2 a cup of water) to lubricate the hoses and
the black protruding hose connectors. Continue installation per owner's
manual. Do not use lubricants such as machine oil, industrial oil, or house
grease.

will not be held responsible for grasses that may grow through the ground
cloth and / or pool liner, as this is not a manufacturing defect. A ground
cloth or tarp may be helpful in preventing this from occurring.
2: Does the color of the printing on the inside of the pool wall fade away
with time and does it pose any health risk issue?
A: Excessive use of pool chemicals can cause the color of the inside wall
printing to fade away faster, like a heavy chlorinated public swimming will
cause bathing suit color to fade.
3: My pool has a milky color, do I need to change the water or is it
treatable?
A: Water condition varies from country to country, states, region, and
within specific zones and areas. In some region the water could be hard,
"hard water", this is because the water contains excessive minerals, such as
calcium and magnesium, thus causing the water to adopt a milky color. Check
your local pool supply store for advice on water treatment and balance.

x 12' x 48" = 7,757 gal (29,359 L) (Rectangular Pool) 16' x 32' x 52" =
14,364 gal (54,368 L) (Rectangular Pool)
2: Are
extra lock pins included in case I lose some?
A: Yes, 2 extra pins are included.
3:
Are replacement liners and frame parts available to purchase?
A: Yes. All parts for frame pools are replaceable. If you would like to
purchase one you can call the Intex service station listed on your Owner's
Manual.
4: Can I set the
pool up on a concrete patio?
A: Yes, as long as the pool location allows you to secure all doors and
windows. A ground cloth placed under the pool is highly recommended. Do not
drag liner across concrete as abrasions may cause holes. Surface must be
flat, level and stable.
5: Can a pool be set up on a
slope?
A: No. The ground must be flat, solid, level and stable. If the pool is set
up on ground that is not level the water will shift to one side, create
stress on the pool frame and the pool will become unstable and possibly
collapse causing personal injury or property damage.
6:
Can a portable water heater be used for this type of pool?
A: 1). On Pools 12' in diameter and smaller Intex's pool heater (item number
56683E) can be used. (IRC) 2). On Pools 15' in diameter and smaller Intex's
pool heater (item number 56684) can be used. (IO)
7: Can
sand be used to level the ground at the pool site?
A: No. Sand has a tendency to shift, therefore causing the pool to lean to
one side and creating stress on the pool frame. The legs of the pool will
also sink into the sand and the pool will become unstable and possibly
collapse causing personal injury or property damage.
8: Can the pool be left
up year-round?
A: It depends on where you live. It is not recommended to keep your pool up
if your temperature falls below 5 degrees Celsius or 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
The pool may freeze, and cracking could occur in the pools liner.
9: Do I need to keep safety and rescue equipment on hand near my pool?
A: You should always have standard safety equipment on hand in the immediate
pool area. Recommended items are (but not limited to) an approved ring buoy
with reinforced rope, a standard first aid kit, a blunt ended metal or hard
plastic rescue pole, emergency telephone numbers of local authorities, and
emergency procedure information.
10: Do
you recommend using chemicals? If so, what kind?
A: Yes. Contact your local pool supply store and provide the estimated
number of gallons of water in your pool. Also the Intex Krystal(TM) Clear
Saltwater Pool System (Chlorine Generator) will keep your pool clean from
algae and bacteria.
11: Does a patch for liner repair come included with the pool set?
A: Yes. Small tears or holes can be repaired with the enclosed repair kit.
The surface should be clean and dry before affixing the patch. NOTE: you can
download the INTEX pool patch video at the troubleshooting DVD download
section on the INTEX website which will guide you how to patch.
12: Does my
Intex pool carry a factory warranty?
A: Intex will replace manufacturing defective product within 90 days of
purchase (except for filter pumps which have a one year warranty). The
product must be returned to Intex along with a copy of the validated sales
receipt, your name, address, telephone number and a brief note explaining
the reason for return. It is suggested that you ship the product to Intex
using a traceable shipping method. Intex will not be responsible for any
product lost in transit. The filter pumps have a one (1) year limited
written warranty located in the filter pump manual. The responsibility of
the shipping cost to Intex is that of the consumer.
13: Does the ladder, ground cloth and/or cover come with the pool?
A: It depends on which package was purchased. Be sure to read the retail
information prior to purchasing.
14: Does the liner require any special care to ensure durability?
A: Keep sharp objects out of the pool or from underneath the pool. Cover the
pool when the pool is not in use with a pool cover. Maintain proper pH
levels; keep the pool sanitary and clean.
15: How do I drain the pool?
16: How do I prevent dirt and grime from getting into the pool water?
A: Remind your family and friends to always hose or rinse off any dirt or
tanning oil from their hands, feet and body prior to entering the pool. Use
the Intex pool cover to keep your pool covered when not in use. This will
help keep the wind and other elements from depositing dirt and debris in
your pool.
17: How do I prevent the pool from damaging grass or fungi from developing
on concrete?
A: It is not possible to prevent grass or lawn damage under the pool. Keep
this in mind when selecting your site for set up. Keep the concrete as dry
as possible by mopping up excess splashed water after each use to minimize
fungal growth, especially in shaded areas.
18: How do you fit the last joint into its designated horizontal beam while
keeping the other beams intact on the round frame pool?
A: Raise the two beams up to a height where beams can be inserted into both
sides of the joint at an angle, then slowly lower the joint as the beams
slide in. Watch that your fingers do not get pinched at the joint openings.
19: How does UV
affect the materials used?
A: All PVC's degrade over prolonged exposure to excessive sunlight. Intex
pools are manufactured with UV inhibitors to delay the degradation caused by
sunlight.
20: How high can I fill the
pool?
A: Up to the fill line, which is approximately 90% full. Check your pool box
for the drawing that shows the exact fill line.
21: How
long does it take to fill the pool with water?
A: Two or more hours, depending on pool size, hose size and water pressure.
Remember to observe the fill up process for several minutes to make sure
that the pool is filling evenly and the water surface is level inside the
pool.
22: How many seasons
should the pool last?
A: It depends on usage, maintenance and care. Consistent maintenance and
proper storage of your pool in the off-season will prolong its useful life.
23: How
much does it cost to fill the pool with water?
A: It varies across the world. Contact your local water company for cost
information.
24: How often should
the water be changed?
A: It depends on usage and chemical balance. If it is properly filtered and
chemically balanced, it should last through the summer season. You can
reduce the need for water changes by keeping your pool covered when not in
use, testing the water regularly to ensure proper chemical balance,
operating the pump for an adequate number of hours each day, keeping the
filter pump cartridge clean, and replacing the cartridge when needed.
25: Is
a DVD that shows how to set up the pool available?
A: A DVD is included in all pool packages. If you would like to purchase one
you can call the Intex service station listed on your Owner's Manual.
26: Is a fence or
enclosure required by law?
A: Some cities and towns require owners of certain types of pools, based on
size and depth to fence the area where the pool is located. Check your local
ordinance.
27: Is it safe
for my pets to play in the pool?
A: No. Dogs, cats and all other household pets should be kept away from the
pool to avoid possibly becoming trapped inside, and to protect the
structural integrity of the pool. (There is a risk of the sidewalls and
inflatable ring becoming punctured by pet claws and teeth).
28: Is it safe to jump or dive into the pool off of a ladder or any type of
platform?
A: No. Under no circumstances should anyone jump or dive into the pool.
Intex does not distribute any pools that are deep enough to allow such
activity. Serious injury or death could result from failure to follow these
rules.
29: Should I leave my pool outside in snow or freezing winter?
A: No. INTEX Above-ground pools will collapse under the weight of ice and
snow, and the PVC walls will be damaged.
30: What is
needed to prepare a site for the pool?
A: A flat, solid level, stable surface is needed and all sharp objects must
be removed from the area. A ground cloth or tarp should be placed under the
pool prior to setting it up. Also, the pool location must allow you to
secure all doors and windows and safety barriers to prevent unauthorized,
unintentional, or unsupervised pool entry. The pool requires at least 4 feet
of space all the way around from objects that a child could climb to gain
access to the pool.
31: What is the
approximate depth of the water?
A: When filled to 90% water capacity, as recommended, the pool water depth
is approximately: 10' x 30" = 24" (61cm) 12' x 30" = 24" (61cm) 15' x 36" =
30" (76cm) 15' x 42" = 36" (91cm) 15' x 48" = 42" (107cm) 18' x 48" = 42"
(107cm) 18' x 52" = 42" (117cm) 24' x 48" = 44" (112cm) 24' x 52" = 46"
(117cm) 9' x 18' x 52" = 45" (114cm) (Rectangular Pool) 24' x 12' x 48" =
41" (104cm) (Rectangular Pool) 16' x 32' x 52" = 45" (114cm) (Rectangular
Pool)
32: What is the pool liner
made of?
A: Laminated PVC which is made with 3 separate layers of material for extra
strength and durability - two outer layers of heavy gauge PVC laminated to
an inner layer of polyester mesh for extra reinforcement.
33: What should I use to clean my pool before storing it for the winter?
A: Mild soap and water. Thoroughly rinse the pool and make sure it is dry
before storing.
34: What sizes are available?
A: We distributes 10'x30", 12'x30", 15'x36", 15'x42", 15'x48", 18'x48",
18'x52", 24'x52" round Metal Frame pools and 18"x48", 18"x52" round Ultra
Frame pools, as well as, 9'x18'x52", 12'x24'x48", 16'x32'x52" rectangular
Ultra Metal Frame Pools.
35: What's
advantage of the Ultra Frame Pool?
A: 1) New silver powder coated steel frame and gray liner offer refined
styling. 2) New easy lock spring pins make installation simple. 3) Unique
ultra frame design is stronger then traditional frames. 4) A larger foot cap
reduces the chance of a foot sinking into soft ground.
36: Where can I buy one?
A: By placing your order right on our website or by calling our customer
service department.
37: Why do I found algae in my pool even when I run my filter pump
regularly?
A: The pump and filter alone will not prevent algae from growing in pool
water. This can only been done by maintaining proper chlorine and pH levels
at all time. Purchase an Intex Saltwater Pool System (chlorine generator) or
check your local pool supply stores for further information.
38: Why does the rope seams tear sometimes? What causes tears in the pool
liner?
A: Make sure the ground on which you place the pool is level. A sloping area
may cause the poles to slide out and break away from the seal of the rope
patch, or the pool liner.
39: Will Intex issue a refund for manufacturing defective product?
A: Any refund request must be made at the original place of purchase.
40: Without measuring, how do I know what is my frame pool size?
A: Count the number of legs. Example: 12' = 12 legs, 15' = 15 legs, 18' = 18
legs.
41: Would excessive pool chemicals affect / cause deterioration to liners?
A: Excessive or concentrated chemicals may cause damage to any pool and to
the user.

Oval Frame Pools
1:
Approximately, how many gallons of water does the pool hold?
2: How high can I
fill the pool with water?
3: How
much air should be used to inflate the top ring?
4: What is the
approximate depth of the water?
5: What might be the problem when the top ring deflates one day after it has
been inflated?
6: What sizes are available?
1: Approximately, how many gallons of water does the pool hold?
A: When filled to 80% water capacity, as recommended, the pool holds
approximately: 12'x20'x48" = 4,393 gal (16,628 L) 12'x24'x48" = 5,407 gal
(20,464 L)
2: How high can I
fill the pool with water?
A: To the bottom of the inflated ring. Do Not Overfill, as this may cause
the pool walls to become unstable and possibly result in injury or property
damage from the water flowing over the pool wall while in use.
3: How
much air should be used to inflate the top ring?
A: Do not over inflate or use high-pressure air compressors. Inflate top
ring to be slightly stiff to the touch. An over-inflated ring heated by the
sun may burst or lead to leaks in the seam. Pay attention to air temperature
variation! In cold weather the top ring will lose some pressure, air will
contract. If this occurs, DO NOT add air since the air inside will expand
again once the temperature RISES. In hot weather, the air will expand. You
MUST let some air out to prevent the top ring from failing due to excess
internal pressure.
4: What is the
approximate depth of the water?
A: When filled to 80% water capacity as recommended, the pool water depth is
approximately: 12'x20'x48" = 41" (104cm) 12'x24'x48" = 41" (104cm)
5: What might be the problem when the top ring deflates one day after it has
been inflated?
A: When a top ring is inflated during a hot and sunny day, the air inside
will contract (less pressure) when the ambient temperature drops during the
evening or early morning, thus giving a false impression the top ring keeps
deflating. Do not over-inflate the top ring, and make sure the air valve is
firmly secure and inserted.
6: What sizes are available?
A: Intex distributes 12'x20'x48", 12'x24'x48", and 12'x28'x48" Oval Frame
Pools.

sets come with covers included.
7: Is the Intex pool
cover a "Safety Cover"?
A: No. The pool covers sold by Intex are debris covers.
8: My cover doesn't fit. Do I have the wrong size? What do I do?
A: Sometimes it is easier to put the cover on with the help of another
person. Hold the cover on one end, have another person walk around the pool
pulling the cover over the inflatable ring (for Easy Set pools), or down the
wall (for frame pools). You can also set the cover under the sun temporarily
in order to promote stretching.
9: Why are there holes in the cover? Does Intex distribute a cover without
holes?
A: For safety reasons there are holes in the top cover. Plus, these small
weep holes are also helpful in preventing rain or sprinkler water build up
on top of the cover. No, all Intex pool covers have holes, except for the
smaller family swim center pools.

advantage of Rectangular Ultra Frame Pool?
7: Why do my horizontal beams bend inward during filling the pool?
1: How come the pool starts to tilt to one side even when I have already set
it up on level ground?
A: The ground is not totally level. If this is the only area to set up the
pool then a level must be used and either pressure treated wood or concrete
bricks placed under the lowest leg areas to build the top beams to a level
configuration.
2: How
do I insert the metal poles into the pool liner?
A: With two adults setting up the pool, have one person hold up the liner
while the second person slides the metal beams through liner sleeves.
3: In what
sequence should the pool be put together?
A: With 2 adults, it is best to put the frame together starting with one
end, pinning the side supports in the corners first, and then proceeding to
pin the beams one side at a time.
4: What is the most important step I need to be aware of before filling up
the pool?
A: Pull the bottoms of the side supports out away from the liner to make the
straps taut. Also, before filling be sure the top beams of the pool are
completely level. (See previous question).
5: What sizes are available?
A: Intex distributes 9'x18'x52", 12'x24'x48" and 16'x32'x52" Rectangular
Frame Pools.
6: What's
advantage of Rectangular Ultra Frame Pool?
A: 1). New silver powder coated steel frame and gray liner offer refined
styling. 2). New easy lock spring pins make installation simple. 3). Unique
ultra frame design is stronger then traditional frames. 4). A larger foot
cap reduces the chance of a foot sinking into soft ground
7: Why do my horizontal beams bend inward during filling the pool?
A: Is normal for the walls to bend inwards during water filling. The wall
will adopt its shape once the pool is filled with water up to the
recommended level."

1: How can I
test the chemical level in my pool?
A: Buy and use INTEX 3-WAY Test Strips. 3-Way Test Strips can test the "Free
Chlorine","pH" and "Total Alkalinity" levels at the same time
2: Can you adapt an older Filter Pump to the Saltwater Pool System?
A: Yes. The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems come with standard hoses and
adaptors that will enable you to fit your Saltwater Pool System to your
Intex above ground pool filter system. (Pump capacity: model 8110/8220:
700gph (2650Lph) ~ 4000gph (15140Lph); model 6110/6220/6230: 500gph
(1893Lph) ~3000gph (11355Lph))
3:
Can you run the Saltwater Pool System with the pool cover on?
A: Yes. However, to ensure that there is nothing obstructing the water flow
to the pump, skimmer, or Saltwater Pool System, it is a good idea to
visually check the pool before turning on any equipment, including the
Saltwater Pool System.
4: Do you need to use any other chemicals in the pool besides salt? What
happens if you put other chemicals in the pool?
A: You may wish to add other chemicals to your pool water, depending on the
local characteristics of your water supply. It may be desirable to further
soften your water, or add clarifiers or algaecides. However, in many
instances, additional chemicals are not needed. If you add other chemicals
to the water, there will be no impact on the salt in your pool. Check your
local pool supply stores who usually understand local water conditions, for
further information.
5: Does the Saltwater Pool System prevent algae and bacteria from forming
on the bottom and sides of the pool?
A: Yes
6: How do I increase
the chlorine output?
A: Chlorine output can be increased by: a) Increasing the Saltwater Pool
System's operating time per day. b) Increasing the salt content in the pool
water or in the saltwater tank (depending on which Intex saltwater system is
being used) to the appropriate level. Test the salt level with a saltwater
Test Kit, and adjust as needed. c.) Removing the cell for inspection, and
cleaning it if necessary.
7: How do I verify if the saltwater pool system (chlorine generator) is
generating chlorine?
A: Use INTEX 3-WAY Test Strips to check. With the device running, dip the
3-way test strip just in front of the water outlet (water returning back
into the pool) inside the pool, and check the chlorine level on the bottle's
color scale.
8:
How does Intex saltwater pool system generate chlorine?
A: Common salt (sodium chlorine) is made up of two elements; sodium and
chlorine. Salt water passes through the saltwater pool system's electrolytic
cell to produce chlorine, which is then dissolved instantly in the water.
This continuous process destroys bacteria, viruses, algae, and oxidizes
other organic materials in the pool.
9: How does the salt
affect the vinyl?
A: The salt will have no effect on the vinyl. In fact, because the salt and
the chlorine produced by the Saltwater Pool System are much gentler than
standard chlorine, it may be easier on the vinyl than standard pool water
treated with standard chlorine chemicals.
10: How long does it take for the Saltwater Pool System to clear the
"green" water from my pool?
A: The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems work very quickly, and will immediately
begin eliminating bacteria and algae from pool water. However, the exact
amount of time needed to transform dirty, dangerous pool water to safe,
clean, clear, fresh pool water will depend on a number of factors including
how dirty the pool water is to start with, the size of the pool, and the
temperature of the outside air.
11: How
often do you run the Saltwater Pool System?
A: The Saltwater Pool System should be run every day, just as the filter
pump should be run everyday. The length of time that the Saltwater Pool
System should run will depend on your local conditions, including
temperature, rainfall, size of pool, and number of swimmers using the pool.
See Owner's Manual for operating time table list.
12: If I am allergic to chlorine, can I still swim in the pool?
A: Allergic conditions are unique to the individual person, so it is not
possible to answer this question for all people. However, because of the
much lower level of chlorine in the water in a salt water pool, and the
absence of other compounds associated with traditional packaged chlorine,
many individuals who are allergic to traditional packaged chlorine, can
safely swim in and enjoy a salt water pool maintained by a chlorine
generator.
13: If the Saltwater Pool System runs too long, will it over chlorinate the
pool?
A: It is possible to run the system for a longer period of time than is
necessary. However, because chlorine dissipates over time (which is why pool
owners must constantly go to the store, constantly purchase, and continually
add standard chlorine to their pools), if you happen to run your Saltwater
Pool System too long, you can simply begin running it for a shorter period
the next day, and your pool will be fine. The best way to determine the
optimal length of time to operate your system is to experiment with
different operating lengths of time, and to test the amount of chlorine in
your pool using the chlorine test strips provided by Intex. See Owner's
Manual for operating time table list.
14: Is it safe to swim in the pool while the Saltwater Pool System is
operating?
A: Due to various local, state, national and international standards, do not
operate the device when pool is in use and/or occupied.
15: Is the Saltwater Pool System available for different sizes of pools?
A: One of the Intex Saltwater Pool Systems will work for all above ground
pools. Since the operating cycle can be set for different operating hours
each day, the system will work with all pool sizes under virtually any
operating conditions. In addition, the Intex Saltwater Pool Systems come
with hose adaptors, so they can be used with all standard-size pool hoses
and fittings.
16: Is the Saltwater Pool System capable of lifting dirt off the bottom of
the pool?
A: No. The Saltwater Pool System is designed to clean pool water; it is not
a pool vacuum or a pool filter, or a pool water pump. To remove dirt from
the bottom of the pool, a pool vacuum, either automatic or manual, will need
to be used.
17: Is the
Saltwater Pool System technology proven?
A: Yes. The technology used in the Intex Saltwater Pool System has been used
since 1974. In fact, over 90% of the pools in Australia use the same
technology, and have been using it for decades. In the U.S., many in-ground
pools use the same technology that Intex uses -- both residential and
commercial pools. However, in the past, salt water systems have typically
cost many hundreds, even thousands, of dollars. Intex, with its commitment
to manufacturing and best value, has designed Saltwater Pool Systems
specifically for above ground pools, and backs them with a year-long product
guarantee.
18: Is the chlorine produced by a Saltwater Pool System different than
the standard liquid or granule chlorine used in most pools?
A: Yes. Intex Saltwater Pool Systems create the same algae and bacteria
eliminating agents in traditional packaged chlorine. However, traditional
packaged chlorine requires additional chemical compounds to stabilize it and
give it shelf life. These compounds end up in your pool water. They do not
exist when an Intex Saltwater Pool System is used.
19: What are the differences between the Automatic Saltwater System
(Model 8110/8220/8230), Krystal Clean Poolwater System Combination
(Combo Model 8111/8221/8231) and Low-Salt Automatic Saltwater System
(Model 6110/6220)?
A: Intex saltwater pool systems employ the same technology to kill the
bacteria and algae in the pool water. The Fully Automatic Saltwater System
(Model 8110/8220/8230) is a separate unit designed for the sole purpose of
chlorinating the pool. It is necessary to attach an Intex Filter Pump to the
Generator in order to maintain proper water conditions. Natural salt is
added one time directly to the pool water when the saltwater system is
installed, and does not have to be replaced. The Saltwater Pool System /
Filter Pump Combo (Model 8111/8221/8231) is equipped with both the Chlorine
Generator and a 2000 gph/H Filter Pump as one unit. Natural salt is added
one time directly to the pool water when the saltwater system is installed,
and does not have to be replaced. The Low-Salt Automatic Saltwater System
(Model 6110/6220) enables you to add salt directly into its salt tank
instead of adding salt into the pool water. Salt needs to be added to the
unit's salt tank on a regular basis, since it is not added to the pool
water.
20: What if the water is accidentally swallowed? Is it harmful in any way?
A: No. The saltwater is completely safe for human swimming. Swallowing small
amounts of salt water pool water though not recommended, is not harmful.
21: What is the Intex Saltwater Pool System (Chlorine Generator)?
A: The Intex saltwater pool system is an easy to use, automatic pool
maintenance system. Pool owners no longer have to endure the expense and
time of constant trips to the store and the dangers of handling and storing
traditional packaged chlorine. Instead, the Intex system uses only 100% all
natural salt to generate a low level of natural chlorine in the water that
destroys bacteria, algae and oxidizes other organic materials to present you
a fresh, clean, clear swimming pool. And the level of salt is so low, that
swimmers do not even know that it is there!
22: What is the chemical process that takes place in a Saltwater Pool
System?
A: The chemical process is very simple. Salt and water are combined with a
low-level electrical charge inside the Saltwater Pool System to produce
Sodium Hydroxide which converts to Hypochlorous Acid. Light, in the form of
sunlight, converts the Hypochlorous Acid to Hydrochloric Acid, which then
reverts back to salt and water. This process means that the agents that
eliminate bacteria and algae in the pool water are continuously produced in
the Saltwater Pool System, and when used up, revert back to plain, natural,
salt and water in an ongoing cycle, never needing replacement. Even though
the water in your pool will evaporate, only the water is absorbed into the
air. The salt remains in your pool. So you will need to add water
occasionally, but not salt. However, If water is removed or spilled out of
your pool, obviously the salt in the water is also lost. So in this
instance, depending on how much water is removed from the pool, some salt
may have to be added. But under normal operating conditions, salt will not
need to be added.
23: What is the life expectancy of the Saltwater Pool System?
A: The life expectancy of the Saltwater Pool System depends on several
conditions: the condition of the water in the pool (hardness, calcium level,
etc.), the amount of hours it is run each day, and the amount of swimmers
using the pool. The only part that could need replacing in the Saltwater
Pool System is the electrolytic cell, which can be purchased separately. The
Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed with special features including an
automatic self-cleaning cycle to maximize the life of the electrolytic cell,
and a user-diagnostic warning system that protects the unit from operating
conditions that could damage the machine.
24: What type of salt
should be used?
A: Use only sodium chloride (NaCl) salt that is at least 99.8% pure. In
models 8110, 8220, 8111, 8221 (NOT IN MODELS 6110, 6220),. It is also
acceptable to use water conditioning salt pellets (the compressed forms of
evaporated salt), but it will take longer for these to dissolve. Do not use
iodized or yellow (yellow prussiate of soda) colored salt. The purer the
salt, the better is the performance of the electrolytic cell.
25: What type of service is needed to maintain the Saltwater Pool System's
performance?
A: he Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed to operate with a minimum
amount of maintenance. It is recommended to always turn the pump on prior to
turning on the Saltwater Pool System (see Owner's Manual) unless the
chlorine generator is part of a combination pool and filter set, to ensure
that air pockets are eliminated from the hoses, and that water is flowing
through the unit. In addition, the electrolytic cell should be examined and
cleaned if necessary. The frequency of cleaning will depend on the local
water conditions, pool usage conditions, and length of time the Saltwater
Pool System is operated each day. (See Owner's Manual.) The Intex Saltwater
Pool Systems contain several features that minimize maintenance
requirements: 1.) An automatic self-cleaning cycle: The Saltwater Pool
System automatically undergoes a self-cleaning cycle to maximize the
operating length of the electrolytic cell. 2.) Safety diagnostics: the
Saltwater Pool System will alert the operator to three conditions that could
result in poor operation: Low water flow through the unit, Low Salt level in
the pool water, High salt level in the pool water. If any of these
conditions exist, the system will sound a buzzer, and flash a digital code
on the control panel (Model 8110/8111/8220/8221) or a Red LED will light up.
(Model 6110/6220).If the condition is not addressed, the system will
automatically shut itself off to prevent damage to the unit.
26:
What types of Intex saltwater pool system are available?
A: 3 types of Intex saltwater pool systems are available in 2007 season 1.
Model 8110/8220/8230: Krystal Clean Poolwater System Automatic Saltwater
System Requires 700 Gal/H or larger filter pump. Recommend with all above
ground pools 2. Model 8111/8221/8231Krystal Clean Poolwater System Fully
Automatic Saltwater System 2000 Gal/H built-in pump is included. Recommend
with all above ground pools 3. Model 6110, 6220 Krystal Clean Poolwater
System - Low-salt Automatic Saltwater System Requires 500 Gal/H or larger
filter pump Recommend with pools below 18 feet
27: What will
happen if iodized salt is used?
A: The iodine in iodized salt will produce a yellow tint to the pool water
and cause the electrolytic cell to deteriorate.
28: Which pool sets come with the Saltwater Pool System? Can it be
purchased separately?
A: All Intex pool sets 15 feet and larger can be purchased with a
combination Saltwater Pool System & pool filter system. In addition, a
Saltwater Pool System can be purchased separately for those pool owners who
already have a pool filter system.
29: Why are Intex Saltwater Pool Systems better than other products on
the market today?
A: Intex Chlorine Generators are better than other products on the market
today because they provide the best value in Saltwater Pool Systems. Intex
has become the world leader and the largest manufacturer of above ground
pools in the world by providing people with high quality pools at an
outstanding price. Our commitment to quality and customer service is second
to none. Intex is now bringing this same commitment of high quality and
great value to chlorine generators, providing consumers with easy to use,
well-designed machines backed by the best customer service organization in
the industry and a one year product warranty for manufacturing defects.
30: Why are there tiny little bubbles in the water when the saltwater
pool system is running?
A: When the chemical process takes place in the electrolytic cell, small
amounts of gasses, such as oxygen and hydrogen are released into the water.
This is safe and normal.
31: Why did I
find white flakes in the pool water?
A: Because excessive calcium is present in pool water. You can drain about
20 to 25% of the pool water and add fresh water to decrease the calcium
percentage. Visually inspect the electrolytic cell for scale build-up and
clean the electrolytic cell if necessary.
32: Why did I
find white flakes in the pool water?
A: It is because excessive calcium is present in pool water. You can drain
about 20 to 25% of the pool water and add fresh water to decrease the
calcium percentage. Visually inspect the electrolytic cell for scale
build-up and clean the electrolytic cell if necessary.
33: Why do I
have insufficient chlorine output?
A: Insufficient chlorine output may happen due to: i) Insufficient operating
hours of the chlorine generator unit, ii) Insufficient (less than 2000ppm)
salt level in pool water, iii) Chlorine loss due to intense sunlight
exposure, iv) The bather load (pool occupancy) has increased, v) Clogged or
dirty electrolytic cell.
34: Why has the name of the device been changed from Chlorine Generator
to "saltwater pool system"? Is it the same product?
A: Yes, it is the same product. The "Saltwater Pool System" name describes
more clearly the advantages of the product and eliminates confusion with
traditional pool chemicals.
35: Why sometimes is it called Chlorine Generator, since it doesn't
actually produce chlorine in the traditional sense?
A: The Saltwater Pool System produces the sanitizing agents that are
responsible for eliminating bacteria and algae without the additional
compounds found in packaged or liquid chlorine.
36: Why use Intex
saltwater pool system?
A: Intex Saltwater Pool System will provide you with a number of important
benefits: First, the advantage of not having to use traditional packaged
chlorine:Traditional packaged chlorine is a dangerous, unstable, hazardous
chemical. Intex Saltwater Pool System eliminates the problem by using salt,
a natural substance, to electrolyze chlorine into the water. Second, natural
softened pool water: the level of salt in the pool water is so low that is
not noticeable. There is no salty taste, smell, or cloudiness in the water.
However, there is enough salt in the water to provide a softening effect,
just as homeowners often add salt to the water in their homes via water
softeners to produce soft, soothing water. Traditional packaged chlorine
must be added to pool water frequently because it constantly degrades under
sunlight and with use of the pool. This means that the pool owner has the
constant expense and aggravation of buying, transporting, and adding
packaged chlorine to their pool water. In addition, they frequently end up
storing packaged chlorine in and around their home and garage, which might
be a danger to family members. An Intex Saltwater Pool System eliminates
these problems and dangers. Unlike traditional packaged chlorine, the salt
mixes with the water once and does not have to be constantly replaced. Each
time the salt passes through the Intex system's electrolytic cell, it is
re-energized into natural chlorine, which is reconverted into the bacteria
and algae destroying agents each time it passes through the electrolytic
cell.
37: Will my pool water be
salty?
A: No. The amount of salt in your pool is less than one tenth the level of
salt in the ocean. So you will not feel, taste, see, or smell any salt in
your pool. What you will feel is soft, clean, clear, fresh water minus the
chemical taste and smell that most standard chlorine pools contain.
38: Will the Saltwater Pool System work even if I use well water? What if
I have hard water?
A: Yes, the Saltwater Pool System will work in all water conditions.
However, you may find it desirable to treat your water (just as you would if
it was being used in your house), if it is hard or has high levels of
calcium, etc. Calcium can form white scale on the titanium plates in the
electrolytic cell, thus requiring more frequent cleaning. Other than more
frequent cleaning, it will not affect the ability of your Saltwater Pool
System to perform its functions.
39: Will the salt produce any harmful by-products over long periods of time?
A: No. Salt is a natural product, and will not produce any by-products,
regardless of how long it is used. In fact, salt is much safer than the
compounds used with traditional, packaged chlorine. Finally, the salt level
in your pool water is so low that the water in your pool is technically
considered fresh water.

above AGP sizes. Is the saltwater pool system suitable for AGP below 15'?
12: What does code 90 mean?
13: What does code 91 mean?
14: What does code 92 mean?
15: What should I do
if code 91 appears?
16: What should I do
if code 92 appears?
17: What should I do if there is still no display on the LED screen?
18: Why is there
no display on the LED screen?
1: Can I pre-program the startup time like my VCR (Video Cassette Recorder)?
A: No, the system cannot be pre-programmed. However, since the system works
on a 24 hour clock, you can set it to automatically start it at the same
time each day.
2: Can I
stop the timer or change the startup time?
A: Yes, you can stop the timer by switching off your unit to clear the
memory. Daily startup time can also be changed when you reset the operation
time manually. See the Owner's Manual for more details.
3: Do I add salt to
the pool or to the pump?
A: Salt is added directly to the pool water at the rate of 25 pounds per
1,000 gallons or 3 kg per 1,000 liters of water. Salt comes in 10 to 30 kg
bags, and is available at most home supply, pool supply, plumbing supply,
and even many grocery stores. Do not use iodized salt. See Owner's Manual.
4: Does the stand-alone Saltwater Pool System require any cartridges as the
pump does?
A: No. The only replaceable part in the Saltwater Pool Systems is the
electrolytic cell. The life of the cell varies depending on water
conditions, pool usage, and operating time of the chlorine generator. The
Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed with a self-cleaning cycle to
maximize the life of the electrolytic cell. Routine maintenance (as
described in the Owner's Manual) will further lengthen the life of the
electrolytic cell.
5: How does the addition of salt to my pool generate chlorine?
A: Salt alone does not generate the chlorine in your pool water. It is the
combination of the salt in the water, plus the low level electrical charge
that takes place in the titanium-coated electrolytic cell in the Saltwater
Pool System that produces the algae and bacteria eliminating agents that
purify the pool water.
6: How does the timer work?
A: The timer works automatically. After the operating time is set, the
system will automatically turn itself back on in 24 hours to continue its
daily chlorine production.
7: How much salt should be
used?
A: 25 pounds per 1,000 gallons or 3 kg per 1,000 liters of water. This level
is one-tenth of the level of salt in the ocean, so you will not see, taste,
or feel the salt in your pool. In addition, although water evaporates and
has to be added to your pool, salt does not evaporate. So unless you spill
water out of your pool, once you have the right level of salt in your pool,
you never have to add any more. Just add water when it evaporates, and the
salt level will remain the same.
8: I bought an AGP Set with a saltwater pool system/filter pump
combination (combo), I do not want to add salt because I do not want
to use the chlorinator. Is it possible to run just the pump to filter
the water at least?
A: Yes. Turn the switch on and the filter pump starts filtering the water
like a stand alone filter pump.
9: I have a saltwater pool system/filter pump combination unit (combo),
can I run just the filter pump only after the chlorinator has
finished without re-setting or erasing the chlorinator's programmed
timer?
A: No. If there is a need to run the filter pump for extra time "only" after
the system finishes its work, the only way is to flick the main switch OFF &
ON and the pump will start running. This will erase the automatic
timer-cycle program set in the memory for the daily chlorine production.
When the extra filtration hours are over, re-reprogram the unit following
the owner's manual.
10: If my pool loses water, how do I know how much salt to replace? What
happens if I add too much salt?
A: The amount of salt you will need to add to your pool will depend on how
much pool water is lost. Salt should be added to the pool at the rate of 25
pounds per 1,000 gallons or 3 kg per 1,000 liters. Since this may be tough
to judge, the best method to determine how much salt to add is to use salt
level test strips, which are widely available at pool stores. See Owner's
Manual for salt table list.
11: The salt table on the saltwater pool system packaging only shows 15'
and above AGP sizes. Is the saltwater pool system suitable for AGP
below 15'?
A: The saltwater pool system is able to work with small pools as long as the
water flow rate of the filter pump meets the required minimum flow rate
shown on the packaging and/or owner's manual. Follow the owner's manual
instructions to calculate the required initial amount of salt and operating
hours for small pools. Always check the chlorine level in the water before
entering the pool with the 3-way test strips included.
12: What does code 90 mean?
A: There are several things you may need to check and do: a).Ensure the pool
pump is on and running. b).Ensure the plunger valves on the pool (if any)
are opened. c).Ensure the filter cartridge, cell and debris screen are clean
from debris and dirt. Ensure the flow sensor (especially the hinge) is
clean. See Owner's Manual. Release all trapped air (if any) in the
circulation line hose. d).Check he direction of water inlet and water outlet
hose. Reverse the hoses if incorrectly connected. e).Check if the flow

15: Why does the enclosure look crooked once it is assembled?
1: Can I leave
my pool outside during the winter?
A: We recommend storing your pool during the winter and your pool is
designed to be easily emptied and stored in a safe place. If you choose
leave your pool up year round. In areas where freezing temperatures occur,
there is risk of ice damage. It is recommended to drain, disassemble and
store the pool in a safe place when temperatures drop below 41 degrees
Fahrenheit (5 degrees Celsius)
2: Can I upgrade my filter
pump?
A: Yes, but we don’t recommend upgrading your filter pump. Our pump
enclosure only supports an INTEX 1500gph/5678Lph (model 635/636) pump, thus
the upgraded pump may not fit into the pump enclosure.
3: Can I use some sanitizer device like saltwater pool system?
A: Yes, but we don't recommend that, because the sanitizer device may not
fit into the pump enclosure.
4:
How long does it take to install the pool and enclosure?
A: When the ground is prepared, it takes less than 2 hours for a team of two
people; and around one hour for a team of three.
5: If I own a 16'x48" round metal frame pool, can I purchase the Sequoia
Spirit enclosure separately?
A: No, due to unique filter pump fittings the Sequoia Spirit is available
only in a 16'x48" set.
6: Is Sequoia Spirit
really made of wood?
A: A. No, It is an extrusioned panel, made of plastic. The plastic
construction makes the enclosure easier to set up and reduces maintenance
when compared to similar wooden enclosures while giving you the look of real
wood.
7: What
is "STRAINER VALVE CAP" used for? How can I use it?
A: Two strainer valve caps are included to prevent water from leaking as you
fill the pool prior to assembling the Sequoia Spirit. Just insert the two
caps into the strainer before filling the pool with water. Note: remember to
remove them the strainer valve caps before using the pool.
8: What ladder should
I use for this pool?
A: The ladder used for this pool is 52" INTEX ladder, it is included in the
set.
9: What shall I do if
my backyard is lawn?
A: If your backyard is lawn, the ground must be prepared for installation.
We suggest you dig and level the ground by pouring a layer of 2" concrete.
If you don't want to concrete your ground, you must hire a contractor for
the ground preparation (see owner's manual).
10: What size of metal frame pool can be used with Sequoia Spirit?
A: INTEX 16'x48" (478x122cm) Metal Frame Pool.
11: What sizes are available?
A: We only distribute 16'8"x49" (508x124cm) for France and Spain in 2007.
12: What tools are
required for installation?
A: Once ground is prepared; no extra tools are required for sequoia spirit
installation. Two bolt wrenches are included for you to complete the whole
installation.
13: Where should I
install my Sequoia Spirit?
A: The ground area where the pool is to be set up must be absolutely flat
and level. Do not set up the pool on a slope or inclined surface. The ground
surface must be compacted and firm enough to withstand the pressure and
weight of a fully set up pool. Do not set up the pool on mud, sand, soft or
loose soil conditions. Do not set up the pool on a deck or platform. NOTE:
The pool requires at least 4 feet of space all around pool from objects that
a child could climb on to gain access to the pool.
14: Why are
the side panels not fitting together?
A: 1) Inclined ground condition. Please follow the ground preparation
instructions in the owner's manual. 2) Incomplete components. Please check
with Parts List and Reference in the owner's manual. If any components are
missing, please contact intex service center. 3) Incorrect assembly steps.
Please follow the Set Up Instructions in the owner's manual. You must fill
the pool with water before assembling the wood grain enclosure.
15: Why does the enclosure look crooked once it is assembled?
A: 1) The pool is not set up on firm, level ground. 2) The bottom cap does
not align with the pool leg cap.
Solar Covers
1:
Does Intex have solar covers for rectangular and oval pools?
2: My solar cover doesn't fit my easy-set pool. Do I have the wrong size?
What should I do?
3: What are the
benefits of using a solar cover?
4: What sizes are available this
year?
5: Why there are
some holes on the solar cover?
1: Does Intex have solar covers for rectangular and oval pools?
A: No. However customers often purchase 2 round covers to use on an oval or
rectangular pool.
2: My solar cover doesn't fit my easy-set pool. Do I have the wrong size?
What should I do?
A: The diameter of the solar cover perfectly matches a round metal frame
pools, due to the shape of the easy set pool, you need to fold the edge of
the solar cover under the top ring.
3: What are the
benefits of using a solar cover?
A: 90% of a swimming pools heat is lost through the water surface; use of
solar cover will greatly reduce the heat lost. It will prolong your swimming
season. We strongly recommend you use a solar cover with Intex's Electric
Pool Heater, it will greatly help hold the heat in reduce your heating
costs.
4: What sizes are available?
A: We distribute 10'(305cm) 12'(366cm) 15'(457cm) 18'(549cm) for both
easy-set and round metal frame pools.
5: Why there are
some holes on the solar cover?
A: The set of small holes on the center of the solar cover are for safety
reason (same concept as the regular debris cover). In addition to that,
there are also small holes equally spaced around the perimeter of the solar
cover near the edge. Sometimes you may find the holes are not consistent,
that will not affect the efficiency and life of your solar cover.
Surface Skimmer
1: After setting up the surface skimmer on an AGP and plugging in the filter
pump, the skimmer starts to vibrate and propel towards the outside lifting
the skimmer out of the water surface. What should I do?
2: Can I use
the pool with the surface skimmer on?
3:
Can I use the surface skimmer with other filter pump brands?
4: Does the floating surface skimmer always need to be used in conjunction
with the filter pump?
5: What is the minimum flow rate for adequate function of the surface
skimmer?
6: Which model filter pump and pool can be used with the surface skimmer?
1: After setting up the surface skimmer on an AGP and plugging in the filter
pump, the skimmer starts to vibrate and propel towards the outside lifting
the skimmer out of the water surface. What should I do?
A: Ensure the surface skimmer hose is connected to the suction port, from
the pool to the pump, and is setup to the right or left of the suction port
(offset). Tighten the hook (for Easy Set Pools) firmly around the top ring
or adjust the screws firmly (for Metal Frame Pools). The smooth contour of
the hook will not puncture the top ring. Check that all air is purged from
the filter pump, surface skimmer and circulation system.
2: Can I use
the pool with the surface skimmer on?
A: No, due to various local, state, national and international standards,
the skimmer and sprayer cannot be operated while in the pool since the
filter pump is not to be operated when the pool is in use and/or occupied.
3: Can I use the surface skimmer with other filter pump brands?
A: No.
4: Does the floating surface skimmer always need to be used in conjunction
with the filter pump?
A: The floating surface skimmer must be used together with an Intex filter
pump. The surface skimmer relies on the filter pump suction to perform.
5: What is the minimum flow rate for adequate function of the surface
skimmer?
A: 600 gal/hr is the minimum flow rate of INTEX filter pumps, in order to
effectively use the surface skimmer.
6: Which model filter pump and pool can be used with the surface skimmer?
A: Surface skimmer can be used with Item Numbers: 56637E (800 gal/hr), 58623
(1000 gal/h), 56635E (1500 gal/h), 56633E (2500 gal/h), 56621E (4000 gal/h),
56611E (2000 gal/h w/chlorinator) or filter pump models 12R/22R, 51/52,
520R/530R, 637/638, 635/636 and 633/634, also with chlorine generator/filter
pump (saltwater pool system/filter pump) models 8111/8221/8231. All the Easy
Set and Frame pools work with the surface skimmer as long as the liner has
the proper inlet/outlet hose connectors.
Winterization
1. What do I do with my pool over the winter if I live in a cold place?
2. How do I
prepare my pool for winter storage?
3. How do I store
my pool liner and small parts?
1. What do I do with my pool over the winter if I live in a cold place?
A: Your pool can be easily
emptied and stored in a safe place during the winter. However, many people
choose to leave their pool up year round. In areas where freezing
temperatures occur, there is risk of ice damage. It is recommended to drain,
disassemble and store the pool in a safe place when temperatures drop below
32 degrees Fahrenheit. See "How To Drain Your Pool" section.
2. How do I prepare
my pool for winter storage?
A: Clean pool water thoroughly
(If Easy Set Pool make sure the top ring is properly inflated).
Remove the skimmer (if
applicable) or any accessories attached to the threaded strainer connector.
Replace strainer grid if necessary. Be sure all accessories parts are clean
and completely dry before storage.
Plug the Inlet and Outlet fitting
from the inside of the pool with the plug provided (sizes 10' and 12').
Close the Inlet and Outlet Plunger Valve (15', 18', and 24').
Remove the ladder (if applicable)
and store in a safe place. Be sure the ladder is completely dry before
storage.
Remove the hoses that connect the
pump and filter to the pool.
Add appropriate winter chemicals.
Consult your local pool dealer as different regions vary greatly.
Cover pool with Intex Pool Cover.
IMPORTANT: INTEX POOL COVER IS NOT A SAFETY COVER.
Clean and drain pump, filter
housing and hoses. Remove and discard old filter cartridge (keep a spare
cartridge available for next season).
Bring pump and filter parts
indoors and store in a safe and dry area, preferably heated.
3. How do I store
my pool liner and small parts?
A: After draining pool, dry pool
liner completely (100%). Sprinkle talcum powder on liner to prevent vinyl
from sticking together and to absorb any water you may have missed.
Roll pool liner to avoid creases
and relocate to storage area. Place it in original carton if you saved it.
Keep all small parts together
with filter pump, manual, and pool, and then place in an area that will
remain at room temperature throughout the storage season.
